Mission Statement: (See Web Site For Updated Information)
LIGA Flying Docs volunteers are flown in small privately-owned aircraft from California to treat the rural poor of Northern Mexico. Trips leave the first Friday of each month, October through June, and return on Sunday. Volunteer participates as often or as little as he/she wishes. After clinic work is over, there is time for the volunteer to relax, swim and enjoy the companionship of other volunteers. Spanish is helpful, not required; 3-4 day trips. For more than 60 years, this organization has been providing medical, surgical, dental, hearing and eye care to the poor in rural Mexico. Members, who are primarily physicians from California, travel by private plane to reach remote clinics, where they work closely with Mexican medical professionals. There are nine missions a year, and all specialties are needed.
